1. About this policy
ROYU helps two partners learn a language together. This policy explains how we use personal information in our app, website and related services, and the choices available to you.
2. Data we process
- Account and preferences: your name, email, account and sign-in identifiers, chosen languages, timezone, avatar and notification preferences.
- Learning and shared activities: your words, answers, progress, goals, streaks, quizzes, partner-game content, shared companion and league participation.
- Purchases: the subscription, purchase and access records needed to provide Premium. Apple handles payment; we do not receive your full card details.
- Device and usage information: app and device identifiers, operating-system information, IP address, language, approximate location and activity such as screen visits or purchases, according to the permissions described below.
- Messages you send to support, including any attachments you choose to provide.
3. Why we use data
We use this information to provide your account and learning experience, connect you with your partner, save progress, deliver requested features and notifications, manage subscriptions and answer support requests.
Where a legal basis is required, core services rely on our agreement with you; security and abuse prevention on legitimate interests subject to your rights; and required records on legal obligations. Optional analytics and marketing rely on separate consent.
4. Service providers and data sharing
- Service providers help with hosting, data storage, sign-in, payments, notifications, AI features and support. They receive the information needed for those services.
- Your linked partner sees the profile, progress and content shared through couple features. Answers and game content follow the feature’s sharing rules.
- If you both join the league, other participating couples can see your team name, chosen creature avatars, team score and rank—not private answers or individual contribution details.
- Optional measurement partners receive the limited information explained below. Information may also be disclosed when legally required or necessary to protect rights and safety.
5. AI features
When you request an AI feature, the text you submit and relevant language context are sent to a third-party AI service provider to produce translations, explanations, quizzes or feedback.
Please avoid including sensitive personal information. AI assistance is optional and its answers can contain mistakes.
6. Analytics, marketing and our website
ROYU does not display third-party ads in the app. Analytics and marketing are separate, optional choices; you can decline either without losing access to the learning service.
With analytics consent, Google Analytics processes app-use information and device or installation identifiers to help us understand and improve the service.
With marketing consent and Apple’s tracking permission, Meta receives limited app-use and purchase information, including device or advertising identifiers, purchased product, price and currency. Meta may connect this with activity on its services to measure which ads lead to installs or purchases. Without Apple’s tracking permission, marketing measurement is limited to Apple’s aggregated attribution. If you decline marketing, neither path is enabled. Your words, answers and partner content are not included in these measurement events.
Our website does not include analytics scripts or advertising pixels, and we do not add analytics or advertising cookies. Our hosting provider processes connection information, including IP address and requested pages, to deliver and protect the site.
7. Retention
We keep account and learning information while it is needed to provide the service. Some records may be kept longer for security, billing, legal obligations or resolving disputes; backups are removed through their normal retention cycle.
Account deletion does not automatically erase past Google Analytics or Meta records. Their retention also depends on provider settings and policies. Contact us about access or deletion requests; we will assess the available records and your rights. A former partner may retain content independently saved in their own account.
8. Security
We use safeguards designed to protect your information and limit access to it. No online service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your device and sign-in method protected, and contact support if you suspect misuse.
9. Your choices and rights
Change analytics and marketing choices in the privacy settings within your ROYU Profile. Apple tracking and notification permissions can also be managed in iOS Settings. Review your choices on each device.
Withdrawing consent stops future optional collection but does not undo earlier processing or recall information already sent.
Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, object to processing, or complain to a data-protection authority. Contact our privacy address to exercise these rights; identity verification may be needed.
10. Account and data deletion
In the app, open Profile → Account & Security → Delete Account, confirm the consequences and sign in again when requested. This removes your account and ends the linked couple relationship; shared data may also be removed.
If you cannot access your account, contact our privacy address. Deleting ROYU or your account does not cancel an Apple subscription; manage it separately through Apple.
11. Children’s privacy
ROYU is not intended for children under 13. Where local law requires a higher age or parental permission, those requirements apply. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information without the required permission.
12. International processing
Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States, where privacy laws may differ. Applicable data-transfer safeguards must be followed. Contact our privacy address for information about the safeguards relevant to your data.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our service or legal requirements change. The date above shows the latest revision. We will provide additional notice when required.
